Rose Tea

My younger sister bought a bag of dry roses from Chinese herbal store last year. She said that the rose could remove extra fat from inside of my body if I added boiled water with some roses. She suggested me to try it, and I did. We put a hand of roses and water in a medium bowl and then cooked it. The smell was a little heavy and strange. After bubbles rolled in the bowl, the rose tea was finished. I sipped at it and felt quite disgusting immediately. After few hours, I felt a pain in my stomach and wanted to vomit. My sister said that perhaps we put too much roses in it caused the rose tea too strong. I didn’t try to drink the rose tea again until I went to the supermarket. I bought a bag of roses again, but I cooked it in other way. I put five to eight dry roses in my cup, and added water from water fountain, not the boiled water. I felt more fragrant when I sipped at it. I didn’t felt any uncomfortable with my stomach.

Hobbies

I didn’t like to introduce myself when I first met somebody. Everyone was asked to introduce name, personalities, and most important of all, hobbies. When it comes to hobbies, I always began to worry what I should say. To be honest, I didn’t have any hobby. My answer surprised people all the time and they all questioned how I arranged my time during winter or summer vacation. In fact, I read books, did some chores, surfed on internet and walked my dog. However, those would not be continued after the school started. Therefore, they couldn't consider being hobbies. I am still finding my hobbies until today. I hope someday I can figure out what I like to do, and it will become my hobby.

Lotion and Lip balm

The weather became chilly recently. I seldom applied lotion to my body and lip balm on my lips, because I couldn’t stand the feeling that my body and lips covered with a layer of oil. However, I felt uncomfortable with my red face these days. My skin started peeling off. It was terrible, so I started to apply a great deal of lanolin crème on my body and I applied lotion that contained less oil on my face. The other problem is that my lips became dry. I was afraid that my lips would become large like two sausages attached to my face. Therefore, I’ve begun to consider if I need a lip balm.

A big ceremony

There was a big and traditional ceremony on Monday in my hometown. It was a day to worship the God and our ancestors. In addition, it was held once every twelve years, so it was very important for people in my hometown. Each family had to prepare four baskets of food. Four baskets separated into two parts, one part for the God and the other part for ancestors. My hometown consisted of several areas, so the view was so amazing when the baskets of food stood in line. There was a small-scale night market near my house, so the road in front of my house was very crowded. The feeling was good because the empty place in front of my house was full of people at that time. The sponsor wanted the ceremony to be exciting and interesting. They invited many old singers and actors to this ceremony. Everyone seemed very happy with them. However, I couldn’t stand the loud music and the high pitch. They bothered me until twelve o’clock. Worst of all, I missed the music concert on TV because the loud and noisy voice cover the voice from the TV.

Karakoram Highway

An unfamiliar way I have never heard before. I knew it better after I read the background of Karakoram Highway. It is a transnational road which winds past some of the highest mountains in the world—the Himalayas, Karakoram and Pamir. The unbelievable thing is that it connects China and Pakistan. Two different races and customs connected by a highway. How amazing it is. Most of the road lies in the long barren peaks, so it’s not hard to imagine why more than 800 workers lost their lives constructing this road. I was stunned by the spectacle of the pictures. An unusual road snakes through the dark green and high mountains. It is a worth trip for those people who like to see superlatives.

Grow up

Six days left before I go into the new coming year 2008. I usually think about my remarkable things within this year and make a goal to what I want to do next year. It is also a month which excited me. The Chinese New Year is coming soon, and I am going to be 22 years old. Sometimes I am happy that I grow up but most of the time it bothers me. I always ask my parents’ suggestion when I was going to decide anything in childhood. Now, I ask for some suggestion, they will say I have to make decision myself because I am old enough to deal with anything. Some of my friends said their parents didn’t give them too much freedom to decide anything, but I like my parents to give me a lot of suggestion that I can make anything easier.

What's new?

Malaria has been a fetal disease around the world, especially for people who live in undeveloped or developing area. It causes severe illness in millions of people and kills more than one million each year. Now, a researching crew found a slug-like species, sea cucumber, produces protein and lectin which can effectively against the malaria parasite. Researches produce the same protein the mosquitoes have first, because mosquitoes carry the malaria parasite. Then, they fused protein with part of the gene from sea cucumbers. Professors said the processes still go with unpredictable danger but it’s promising. This news stimulate not only medical person but also those who suffer from this disease or who live in risk.
